Lay back and relax or enjoy an active day in the Hohe Tauern national park

The area in and around Niedernsill offers wonderful holiday activities for everyone. There are plenty of opportunities to have a fantastic time with family and friends. 

Hiking in natural surroundings, far away from all hectic and stress
You will find hiking and trekking trails literally at your front door. The choices are limitless, ranging from easy to difficult. The trails are well marked but do not forget to take your hiking map with you.

 An invigorating dip in a mountain lake
Swim in the beautiful natural mountain lakes located in Niedernsill and Uttendorf (only 5 minutes by car). Children can enjoy the slides, playground and miniature golf. Or take a dip in the crystal clear waters of Lake Zell. Swim in a warm lake (+ 23 C °) while enjoying fantastic views of the surrounding Alps. On a rainy day you can also visit the indoor pool in Zell am See or the unique Tauern Spa Wellness complex in Kaprun.

 Cycling in the mountains
You will find numerous cycling trails in varying degrees of difficulty, suitable for mountain biking, E-biking or your regular bike. In addition to the many mountain bike trails on the Maiskogel and Hundstein mountains, there are three new “freeride trials” with a total length of 16 km along the Kitzsteinhorn mountain. Mountain bikes are transported free of charge to the Alpine Center, located at 2450 m.

 Water sports and more
Crystal clear Lake Zell is not only fantastic for swimming, it perfect for pedal boating, sailing, paddling, kayaking, windsurfing and waterskiing. In addition, the high water quality and visibility make the lake very popular for fishing and diving.

In the vicinity, you will find a number of excellent golf courses, including:

Winter fun in the summer time at the Kitzsteinhorn glacier
Discover the Kitzsteinhorn glacier featuring slides, snow and ice bar. Even in the warm summer months, the Kitzsteinhorn at about 3000 meters above sea level is permanently covered in ice and snow. Up to July, it is possible to ski the slopes.

The Hohe Tauern National Park
The National Park Hohe Tauern, with a surface area of 1,836 km2, is one of the largest nature reserves in Europe. The park offers many highlights such as the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner (3789 m), and the longest glacier in the eastern Alps: the Pasterzen Glacier and the highest waterfalls in Europe, the Krimmler Falls. Surrounded by nature, the Hohe Tauern is the perfect backdrop for a memorable and active holiday in Austria.

The most beautiful mountain road in Austria! In addition to the largest caves in the world, you will find numerous mineral springs and waterfalls. At the panorama point EDELWEISSPITZE (at 2571 m.), you can view an area that boasts of 37 peaks higher than 3,000 meters. There are nearly 70 bridges and tunnels along the route, making it a fantastic route to drive.

 Krimmler Falls
At a height of almost 400 meters, the Krimmler Falls is the highest waterfall in the Alps and the fourth highest in the world. The water flows down in three tiers. An unforgettable experience: a walk across the Waterfall Path, from Gerlospas or the village of Krimmel.
